
Venetian Tapestry
Designed by F. W. Plaistow in the 1950s, the layout is very linear pointing to the design's Venetian origins. A number of Venetian Artists of the 15th Century had a taste for reproducing patterns found in the classical architecture of ancient Rome. The presence of the Griffin is significant - in medieval Christian art, the Griffin denoted Jesus.

61% Cotton, 39% Viscose. Width - 126cms (49.5") wide. The linear pattern repeat is 46cms. (18") and repeats four times across the width at 31.5cms (12.4").
